Sci-Fi London 9

And so to Cardiff, which was as lovely as I remembered it, and where everywhere feels like you’re in an episode of Doctor Who or Torchwood, for obvious reasons. Had great, work-related doings there which I can’t talk about yet, nor even offer material on which to speculate. Yes, I know. I am an absolute spoilsport. Or ‘soilsport’, as I just typed.

But instead, I can tell you that I will be playing a part in the Sci-Fi London 9 event during the weekend of the first of May. Sci-Fi London is an international festival of science fiction and fantastic film, and they’ve got a great programme of events on offer this year, which you can find here. I’ll be around on the Saturday morning to talk about the heady days of Marvel UK on this panel. Though the panel deserves to stay on-topic, if you’re in the vicinity, I’m sure I might be in a position to chat about other stuff once panel duties are done.

Further news here soon on some other appearances I hope to be putting in over the next few months.

ZING!!! Cardiff's my spiritual home having spent 8 years studying and working there and I still miss it. Watching Torchwood really helped me connect until the geography went out of whack. There was one particular scene where Capt. Jack is pursuing a subject through an arcade onto Queen's Street, then in the next frame they're at the bottom of Queen's Street then at the Bay. Mental. However, I understand the constraints of TV and only the nerdy such as I would bother to take in such information.

Hope you enjoyed, Mr. A, and hit me up next time you're going. I know of some lovely places to eat.

Might have to see if my older sibling is working on that weekend or not....if not, I might pop down. I need a break away from life.

Do you only do European appearances sir or do you come to the states? I can't find a list of your schedule anywhere :(
Would love to see you come to Dragon*Con, with Gamesday taking all the GW cred it would be wonderful to have you rep the Black Library as well as the rest of your works.

Please continue with your wonderful creation!

Re: last post. I was tempted enough by the discussion to check out my first episode of Doctor Who from credits-to-credits, and was totally enthralled. They even had a 1 hour special on BBC America preceeding it that caught me up on what I needed to know about the show and taught me to tell my Daleks from my Cybermen. So thanks for the recommend. Will certainly be tuning in next week.

And for the record, I agree guys-- Amy Pond is absolutely darling.

I look forward to it, Jim.

And there's a nickname I wish would stick. "Dr Danhattan"...

Hey dan just wondering if youve had chance to watch any of the pacific yet? and if so what do you think of it? i know youve mentioned before that band of brothers has helped in regards to writing about the ghosts, personally im enjoying it but find that has its missing something not to say that im not enjoying it and I find it facinating has ive never really studied or looked into the pacific theatre during WW2. I think its main difference from band of brothers is that it focuses on three seperate soldiers rather then the entire unit.

Train tickets - Booked
Arrangements - Made
Marvel tickets - Booked
Starcraft Allnight tickets - Booked.

Ready to rock and all - You bet your arse!

What a bloody performance it was, but got there in the end. A few days away from life in the north east for life in Eastbourne with a few bits and pieces thrown in for good measure. It's cost me lots of cash and will cost even more through travel to and from London....but it'll be worth it.

See you soon Mr. Abnett!
Muahahahahahahahahaha!

A small letter to Dan Abnett with little ideas for the genius!

Mister Abnett iam really a big fun of your Gaunt Ghosts serie! And as iam i cannot forget to mention some ideas that i have for years for them! After 12 book i think to make them for you!
1) Whats your opinion to begin the next book - Salvation Reach - (or what you call it - you are the author!) with imperial fleet jumping from warp to engage the maine chaos naval base above the major chaos stronghold.
2) After initial battle (10-20 pages with list of casualties mounting and Gaunt view on imperial guard bypassengers role in naval warfare) Ghosts are sent to the formidable star fort to retrieve the crucial intelligence about the planet. And as they ridding on transports - Gaunt saw the fleet admiral battleship going down with all hands to achieve the victory for imperial navy and Space Marines boarding torpedos and begin thinking about their (SM)and Navy impact on Crusade!
3) After landing Ghosts engage in room to room combat in close confines of star fort space. They destroyed the opossition, but are attacked by 7 (as iam not mistaking thats the number of Khorne) Chaos Space marines. They lost some cool ghosts and think thats death near, but the Iron Snakes Space Marines emerge and with some losses destroy CSM. Gaunt befriends with Iron Snakes captain or sergeant and make another inside view on how SM help the Crusade and humanity!
4) Gaunt and ghosts insight about the Navy, watching the death toll of pyrphic naval victory rolling in space around the fort!
5) Guard and the ghosts along them, are sent to the planet, and what waiting for them there is your privillege to write!
Or and Gaunt in one of the land battles saved the life of his new Iron Snake friend that begins the new friendship line in serie!

Hope we give you some ideas - but to see Gaunt Ghosts in naval warfare, in some manner, would be cool!
