Hello!
In a packed blog today, I wanted to present a little round up of some recent goings on, and generally get excited in anticipation of Games Day UK, which happens in just over a week. Who will I see there? As many of you as possible, I hope!
Before I forget, I got all worked up a few minutes ago when the postman brought me my sample copy of this, which is a very very nice package indeed. Six hours of beautifully read Horus Rising audiobook? Yes please!
Let me also, while I remember, furnish you with a link to the second part of the Panel Borders broadcast about Marvel UK. Again, thanks to Alex Fitch for this, and to the London Science Fiction Film Festival for having us.
Next, a little anticipatory build up from Marvel.com.
Next up, a link I shared on my Facebook page to a thought provoking piece on SF Signal entitled 'Casting the Eisenhorn movie'.
Once you're done there, come and hear this podcast Mike Shevdon and I did for Angry Robot (thank you, Mur!).
Finally, a link to a new website from Magic Leap, a company I'm going to be talking about a lot in the next few months. You'll see why. Go take a look, and get yourself a little jazzed up.
Did I say finally? I was lying. This is just idleness, but I feel the world can always do with a link to a really good song on a Friday afternoon.
Have a great weekend.

I'll be there and I'm really looking forward to meeting you. I never normally get the opportunity because I can't do Saturday events, this is my one chance in the year. It's traditional to give you something to sign...I may have to use my imagination :)
As for the Eisenhorn movie, Black Library twittered the link with the caveat, "never going to happen". With the Ultramarines movie in the making it may not be quite that impossible. Not live action of course but CGI is very doable and would be thuper awethome!
Magic leap looks really exciting, I'll be watching this space.
But Games Day is on a Sunday.
And I'll be making a nuisance and complete arse of myself, as per usual
Okay, I'm a little bit excited by The Hour Blue and Magic Leap Studios. DnA, WETA involvement, and a distinct steampunky vibe from the piece of cover art(?) on the Film page makes this look like a very interesting prospect indeed :D
With regards to the music choice...

only in America eh ? ;0
Okay, I salvaged all my disintegrating GG first editions from storage on the other side of the Atlantic over the summer, so I have a stack of dusty old books for you to sign.
In related news, will Nik be in situ? I'd also like to ask her to scribble on my Hammers of Ulric and Gilead's Blood before they completely fall to pieces.
Sredni - Just try stopping me! I'll be in costume, too, as per the 'Costume Posse' group started by Xhalax on Facebook. Thanks, X! Join up immediately! It's not too late... No... wait... time is running a tad short. Hmm... that's me off to tackle last minute costume fixes...
I'm not really a costume person. I look weird and ab-human enough already.
Gonna be there and looking forward to it, cant wait to see these costumes!
A shame that is going to be abridged...
Hmmm. Too bad he forgot to mention James Rebhorn based simply on looks alone.
As for the rest of the Eisenhorn thing, I'm pretty sure if GW/BL ever get into any =I= stuff, it will be directly from a script meant for the big screen.
Unabridged, I'm thinking Eisenhorn Omnibus comes in at around seven movies off the top of my head. Between the quick, atmospheric three second reads that would turn into thirty second montages of Cadian stones and speeders soaring around and not on an entirely different note the abhorable amount of 'dead time' that would be needed to give the 41st millenium a proper spooky feeling through the book and keep the movie from being too 'busy' (e.g. ala star wars style, death star bum bum bum, storm troopers on parade waiting, staring at a shield generator), they're pretty much boned.

Album versions better, but the visuals here are killer
The Hour Blue looks really cool.
Also, the beginning of that music video, what with the wasteland and the style of the girl's dress and all, reminded me of the novel Go-Go Girls of the Apocalypse.
Consider for the role of Eisenhorn -
Hugo Weaving - He has the breath and presence to play Eisenhorn from puritan to radical.
Viggo Mortinson
James Purefoy - Marc Anthony from HBO's Rome, Solomon Kane
Hugh Jackman - meh
sredni - All you need is a pair of scuffy, red overalls and you're in!
Oops - Same goes for everyone else.
One pair of scuffy, red overalls and you can join our Titan Menial crew.
And your're welcome Nik, and thanks for joining it.....I think it's THE most awesome thing on the planet that you'll be there in red!
Xhalax: I'll see what I can turn up. This is all contingent on my successfully securing that day off work, of course...
James Spader = Eisenhorn
James - LIKE!
I hope you're the one drinking Yorkshire Tea.....
sredni - See you there in red!
Looking for something red now..............
