The Ultramarines Movie (need-to-know-basis)

People keep asking me questions about the Ultramarines movie, and obviously I’m dying to answer them but I can’t, because of confidentiality clauses and other exciting grown-up reasons.

The one thing that surprises me, however - here, on Facebook, and on places like the BL page - is that the questions are often very basic. I realise that’s my bad. It’s too easy to take for granted that people are in the loop, that they’ve read the right post at the right time. So (and I apologise to anyone who already knows this), it’s probably a very good thing to do a little Ultramarines The Movie 101, and remind everyone that the project, which is in production RIGHT NOW, has a website here, where you can find all the facts and figures that have been released about the movie to this point, which includes interviews with yours truly and the stars of the flick. Most importantly of all, on the main page (top right - look! look!) there is a link where you can sign up to receive information AS IT'S ANNOUNCED. Go ahead and register, and take a look around the site. Then you’ll know as much as it’s possible to know.

Spill the beans Mr. A - not literally!!! Damned cooks! Anyhoo - I'm grateful (occasionally) for the non-disclosure. I'm not 100% sure I would have enjoyed a movie so much had I been told the entire plot. In fact some of my favourite moments in movies come from not knowing anything about them. So I'm very glad that the Ultramarines movie is under tight wraps as I don't really want to know until I see it.

Though I get the excitement.

I'm so excited for this movie, and like other commenters (is that a word?) I like not knowing much. I had that experience with both "Pitch Black" and "Burn After Reading" and the movies were significantly better because of that :)

I just want to know anything - the only thing we know is who stars and that it's about Ultramarines - I mean, we don't even have a clue who the enemy is, or where this takes place.
Hell, even the actors have only gotten names, but it's absolutely impossible to say if "Proteus" is a marine, an Imperial official or some entirely other fellow.

C'mon, would it be such a pain to leak a bit of relevant information?
And show some actual animated pics, instead of concept art?

Still not feeling the love....and I suspect I won't until the trailer at the earliest.

*sigh*

Signed up for that the day I heard about the movie a few months ago.

The concept sketches look good, the voice actors seem good, I'm just not too sure about the writer ;)

I would say the single most important question about Ultramarines is when will it be released?

Dan,
I was checking out some of the most recent concept art on the movie site, and found that the barrel of the 3d grayscale boltgun does not line up with the bolt/ejection port. You may want to mention this to the creative team. This is a pretty major technical flaw.
