Thanos for fifteen minutes

I thought I'd share this pick of last week's fanfare announcements, with this one, and then this one, and then this one.

Andy and I were the Interview Twins from Interview Street, Interviewham, Interviewshire that week. Still, not complaining. Nice to be popular.

1) Dont no what to say!
More Gaunt Ghosts - full books! Thats for start!

2) You make 2 promises! We knew about your health problems and very sorry to hear that, but you promised to write one new Gaunt Ghosts book each year after Blood Pact. And hearing about Sabbat Worlds Anthology with your short storie its not a full novel!

3) Second promise was in long 2007 - we hear about Double Eagle 2. And now 2010. We saw Brothers of the Snake, Titanicus, Legion, in future damn Prospero burns - but what about one of your most interesting titles.
Write it already!

Jeez,Anonymous give the guy a break.
One of his clones broke down

I would love nothing better than Dan to push Eisenhorn up front and center, but that is very unlikely.
Even if he wanted to work on DE2 next Black Library would probally say they wanted him on something else, something Heresyish.

But I understand how you feel I loved Double Eagle too and always wanted to buy the Forgeworld bomber and paint it up as G for Greta.
But I have to pay for food and heat so that is not happening anytime soon.

Wait, does this mean it's pronounced "Thay-nuss" rather than "Thah-noss"?

BigWill - yeh you maybe right! Iam to angry about Ghosts, and BL site! Also i hate Horus Heresy serie!

1) But Abnett is my favourite (yes the first and best) writer and i really like his books!
But why Prospero burns and not new Ghost Book or Double Eagle 2?
With so big a cliffhanger in Blood Pact i really wonna know what happened next!

2) About BL site. In theory, some people knew that before you broke down something - you build something! Could they not build another site then mantaining old one technically?

You ask why iam angry - my friend made the order from GW (without bl site) on 5 January - and now - 9 of March. And fucking missing order, without a glimpse of information from GW. He send them 3letters - yeh and nothing! So what i must think about BL?

It makes me laugh quite a bit that Graham NcNeill is actually writing about The Apostles for his story.

As for all the anger....surely there is a better, more constructive place for it/way to harness it.

Plus BL and GW are something along the lines of separate
companies so don't go blaming BL for GW mistakes.

Yeah, Dan.

I mean, I know about your health problems - I'm very sorry to hear about them - and I know you might want to write other stuff, but you promised to shine my shoes and wash my car.

In other news, save me an email: Are you (and/or Lady Nik) up for giving the redone TFH a read at the midway mark this weekend?

calm it mate schedules get changed and then theres the health problems plus I never remember Dan promosing an exact date on those books most are good ideas that will very likely become books once he has time, i like variety and a mix of Dan Abnett books each year not jsut the Ghosts otherwise theyd get boring pretty quickly

plus just because you dont enjoy the heresy series doesnt mean others dont and many may think screw the ghosts I want more Heresy, personally I agree with Bigwill i think wed all like some more Inquisitor stuff since its been awhile but the waiting makes it all the sweater when it does finally arrive.

Holy hell? Where did that come from?

The dude had serious brain chemistry problems and took a few months off to sort himself out and THEN had to pick up where he left off. Have we been so spoiled with Mr.A's prodigious output that we simply can't handle anything other than the prescribed release schedules? What the hell would happen if he took a sabbatical for longer?? Geez, some people...

On the similar subject - Ragnar is kicking ass on the website and it'll be done when it's done. So quit moaning.

I still love you Mr. A.

Annonamous - wouldn't describe the end of Blood Pact as a cliff hanger. The story was fully rapped up and the scean was set up for the next one. As to one a year, be paitient. It's not been 6 months since it's relleas, and it was 13 months between that and the release of the previous story set in the sabbat worlds (Titanicus). The way I see it. I'd be fine waiting untill some time in 2011 befor the next ghost/sabat worlds novel. Whilst being tied ove by such stories as embeded, prosporo burns, the next triumff novel, or any thing else dan comes up with between now and then. Rush nothing. The the ghosts stories didn't get to where they are today by being rushed.

To the first anonymous.

I'm not a expert in website design, far from it but I have met the guys who run the BL website. Making a new website isn't a simple matter of clicking your fingers and i'm sure if they could have kept the old site up and running they would have. No company would willing go without a website for so long if they could avoid it.

Although BL is part of GW they have a different customer service department and although I've had problems with mail order, the BL CS guys have nothing but helpful.

Why don't you send the BL CS guys a email or a letter I'm sure they'll be happy to help.

I totally agree with you. Regardless of extenuating circumstances, Mr. Abnett made a promise to deliver a book a year in the Gaunt's Ghost's series, and now he's trying to wriggle out of the deadline by purposely developing epilepsy-- the sneaky bastard! That's why I hope you'll join me in naming Mr. Abnett in a class-action lawsuit for breach of oral contract. We're also suing Terry Pratchett for irresponsibly developing early-onset alzheimer's and Douglas Adams for dropping dead before finishing the Hitchhiker's series. I mean when are these layabout authors going to realize that their duty to readers takes precedence above their career, their families, and their own physical and mental health? Don't they get it that it's their earthly purpose to pack us full of as much entertainment as we desire, and do so whenever we clap and say "chop, chop"?

That's why, if we win this lawsuit, Mr. Abnett will be chained to his desk and compelled through various humane but assertive means to write only what people like you and I want to read. Why would a writer need range, anyway? It just dilutes the drink. If other people like the Horus Heresy, they obviously have inferior taste to ours, right buddy?

We may have to circumvent the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833, but I don't really foresee a problem there. I'm also drumming up support to have Mr. Abnett's wife and daughters deported, so they don't run the risk of distracting him. (They will be forcibly deported in a humane and sensitive manner.) Can I count you in?

Oh, and also, I adore how you've double-posted your comments so we can really pick up on the subtleties of your argument.

1) Gezze guys? Do not beat me up! You are right! So i repeat myself -Dan Abnett is my favourite (best) writer and i really like his books! And i have no problem with him personally on any level. I only wish him good health for him and his family! All i want to say that i really wonna read another new Ghosts book! And yes - Blood Pact ends on cliffhanger! There do they go? who greet them there? and what kind of warfare do we see this time?

2) We are all people. We have our own problems - i understand that. And everyone - even me, knew that the best writers do not rush the process! About double pousting - it was a mistake on my note - so iam sorry!

3)And i understand that everyone has its own unique taste for books in that matter! But Double eagle was and would be the best book from Abnett! So i really wonna read the sequel! And yeah iam trying to teach real english very hard!

Anonymous-

I promise my post was more good natured than you took it! I apologize if I teased too hard- I was making fun of your argument, not you. The double posting thing happens to the best of us-when it does, it's best to delete one of the comments after it's posted.

The fact that you're learning English actually makes me want to chalk this up to a translation mishap. Your written English is quite good- good enough that when I read your comments I thought it was your first language and mistook your abrupt phrasing for rudeness. So really, congratulations are in order- you fooled a native speaker!

As for GW, I've always had good luck with their customer service on the phone, but like any company, it all depends on who picks up the phone. Try calling instead of writing. Email usually gets good responses too.

Oh and Double Eagle was one of my favorites too. :)
