In brief...

Thanks for all the comments, suggestions, and the positive remarks about OiD. I'll get back to covering them all (and the questions), and the casting ideas, when I've had a little lie down, because... I'm Alpharius, and I'm finished.

Legion is now in the hands of the Black Library. I like it, and I hope you will too.

Next up, Titanicus...

If Dan doesn't get to write the final installment of the heresy, Horus, Battle barge, Sanguinius and the Emperor, all big smack down time, then I shall burn all my 40k rule books, melt down my spam and smash my Bugmans ale mug!

Congratulations on finishing Legion! I'm sure it will be marvelous. Sadly I wasn't at Games Day so I haven't got my hands on Only in Death yet, but I'm thoroughly looking forward to it.

Hi all - I'm glad Dan 'likes' Legion, but I've read it twice now and I don't like... I think it's bloody marvelous. This could be my favourite book yet! And trust me, I'm a fan.

But I want Eisenhorn shorts!

*thinks for a minute*

They'd go well with my Eisenhorn T-shirt.
Or maybe Eisenhorn in shorts? Pre-knee blowing offness of course.

Or Nathun.....Nathun in shorts.
Yeah....I'd like that. A LOT. With Ban.....

I'm off to get a bucket now.
*prowls off*

Seriously looking forward to Legion! Seriously. I hope to finish my pre-Heresy World Eaters force before reading it, though, as it's likely to make me want to start an Alpha Legion force...

And I agree with Hugo Strange, 100%. Mr Abnett, I trust you, and only you, to take us back to Horus' Battle Barge, to the Emperor's Throneroom and to all the really important places, and not have it suck! ;)

Make us like Horus again. Make us feel bad for him and hate him and love him, right before he dies.

Counting down to Legion landing in the US...

Thomas:

Hugh Laurie is an interesting choice for Gaunt. My problem with it is that I'm such a huge Wodehouse fan that Mr. Laurie will always be Bertie Wooster to me in the deep, primal regions of my brain. The thought of him as Gaunt... well... we'd need Stephen Fry as Beltayn.

"This is rum, Beltayn."

"Indeed, sir."

"Mitty Chass insisting we give her lunch on the same day we're to receive the Blood Pact Assault?"

"If I may suggest, sir. We can still receive Mr. Gaur and his party in the dining room if we confine Ms. Chass to the sitting room long enough. We can invite Lord Eisenhorn, as you recall, she has a weakness for telepathic gentlemen."

"Why she'll fawn all over him, never notice I'm gone!"

"Indeed, sir. Constant vigilance will have to be maintained..."

"Yes, yes. Well! Emperor protects, what?"

Dan, I can't wait for Legion! Do you have a date on which it is projected to hit shelves in the States? I may be in Iraq by then, but dammit, that's what Amazon.com was MADE for!

***Honey, if you're reading my posts, STOP HERE!***

I proved a valuable point today! I took down the Colossus of Rhodes! We've begun to incorporate more advanced hand-to-hand combat into our training here and I was paired up with a football (American-style) player who looked like he would bulge out of terminator plate. He ear-holed me once, elbowed my eye and damn-near dislocated my shoulder, but I choked him out in the end! Ha ha! See! An Imperial Guardsman CAN go toe-to-toe with an Astartes and triumph! (With enough leverage and post-battle ibuprofen. ow.)

Also, I just finished Lord of Ruin today! Bravo! I had an ending in mind that I was hoping for throughout the entire book and you NAILED it! All I need is a Warpsword of Khaine and I guarantee that goliath won't get in so many licks next time!

Nik, you're my hero! I've started working on another project, but progress is slow. I don't really have a submission goal, I'm just working for my own benefit. I like that.

Oh, does anyone have any contact with Matt Keefe? He wrote "Outlander" in the Necromunda series. One of the characters in his book shares my name and he killed me off! I'm pissed (in the American sense)! I ought to write a book with his name in it, kill him off and see how he likes it!

As it turns out, Matt Keefe is staying at my house at the moment. I read him your comment, Jesse, and he laughed (he's a cruel northerner, you see...).

Nice work finishing Legion, Dan, I can't wait to read the second half... (you're going to like it, folks).

Right, back to finishing Heldenhammer.

See ye soon.

Dan:

What a great interview! It's good to see that some people are still capable of asking open-ended, insightful questions. Well done, Tempest.

Are there any plans for how many books it will take to finish out the Horus Heresy series?

I can't wait for Descent of Angels! Mitchel Scanlon is a good writer. I would have thought the Dark Angels to be more of Gav Thorpe's domain, but I can see Mitchel doing a good job with it.

When they finally get around to throwing the looney-@$$ sons of Fenris into the mix, though, it's going to have to be William King.

Matt:
You didn't use my given name. You used my last name which, because of my job, I can't give out over the Blog. Don't think that saves you, though. I'm still going to kill your character off in my first book. Then I'm going to kill off Graham's character for harboring a murderer at his place!

Nobody in Particular:
The Army is FINALLY going to test new weapons next year! I'm so happy! The last competition was judged by the makers of the M-4. Guess which rifle won. . . Next year it will be a panel from Colt, FN, H&K and others. The U.S. Army might actually walk away with a battle rifle that's worth a damn! Maybe even the SCAR. . . Ooh. . . *Drools on self*

Jesse, I'd be honoured, and you're welcome to kill my character anytime you like (though I'd rather you didn't assassinateit , since that's something different entirely;-)). Depending on just how secret your name has to be kept, you're welcome to contact me off-Blog and let me in on the secret. If you visit Graham's site, you can use the contact function there to send an email which Graham will pass onto me and I'll contact you privately, if you want.

Dear Sir,
I love you work!
I have been a big fan of your work for a long time now! It started with win I started playing 40K
But at the time I was into comic books also! I was going through my comic book collection a few months ago and cecking out my Marvel UK books, like Warheads and Deaths Head II and some others, back then I loved the War Heads and Deaths Head II! And was wondering what happend to Deaths Head are you thinking of doing anything more with Deaths Head or is there a trade paper back out there of him!
And I also like the work you do on the 40k books!
Thank you!
