Mentioned in Despatches

Forgot to add yesterday what a great time I'd had on my visit to Folkestone Library last Saturday. They made me feel very welcome, and I didn't appear to bore anybody too much. I'll also be doing a little comics workshop at Faversham Library on the 27th.

Now, to be a little shameless, the frankly cataclysmic final part of The Thanos Imperative came out from Marvel yesterday (Wednesday, in the US) and, to paraphrase Tess, the scores are in:

“Architects Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning have made Marvel’s space-faring heroes the cream of the publishing crop.” –WeeklyCrisis.com

“The Marvel Cosmic Universe is the most entertaining portion of Marvel's U, and DnA have outdone themselves this time in creating a story so epic that it dwarfs their previous efforts. Kudos, guys.” –IGN.com

“The Thanos Imperative has made a name for itself as being one of the most epic and thrilling books on the stands. Thanos comes out of this story receiving exactly what he deserves…DnA have made the most of their storytelling potential…DnA pay off on years of buildup and deliver a satisfying conclusion to various character arcs. Fans of the Guardians of the Galaxy will find this issue to be extremely bittersweet, doing justice to the quirky…Miguel Sepulveda's art is impressive once again…this series has seen Sepulveda rise to a new artistic level…we could be looking at the end of a long, memorable saga that began humbly with Keith Giffen's Drax the Destroyer mini-series. And while The Thanos Imperative is a fitting end to that saga, how many readers won't still be craving more after this issue? Let's hope next month's epilogue paves the way for more cosmic goodness.” –IGN.com

“The heroic catharsis this band of galactic adventurers reach made for a very satisfying, even moving, conclusion…a sweeping saga.” –ComicVine.com

Just to prove this isn't all me, me, me (or DnA, DnA, DnA), I'd like to recommend once again Matt Forbeck's novel Amortals. Go git it!

I am very glad to see someone made the Marvel Universe,Universe cool again.
Too bad Marvel would not reprint 2000 AD here in the states.

Kudos, Dan!
Glad the Thanos Imperative is being so well-received. Having Andy Lanning write all the nouns and you write all the adjectives (or whatever it is you crazy kids do) has certainly paid off!
Best,

Thanos was unbelievable! So good so well writen! Its good to have Dan on that! But the better part of his writing is about the Ghosts and its really wonderful!

Dan,
I read this in Viz comic and thought of Castle Abnett:

"HAUNTED HOUSE? A large cut-out of PacMan makes an ideal 'scarecrow' for ghosts. - FutureDave"

'FutureDave' is wrong of course. Anyone who's played Pac-Man would realise a large cut-out of the saffron fiend would be a MAGNET for ghosts, since they spend most of the game chasing him.

BUT, a large cut-out of Pac-Man on an everlasting Power Pellet should do the trick. Omnomnom. If the Hussar ever gets too much for the Vincent-Abnett clan, you know what needs to be done...

Anonymous - I can speak for myself, as well as screaming longer, louder, more persistently and to better effort and effect on my own, thank you very much...I don't need you putting words in my mouth.

Oh, and Mr. Abnett, I think I missed a trick with the questions so I shall ask it here instead.

Did the little knitted Ghost ever get given a name or is he Catachan and has to earn one?

Thanks.

Very bittersweet. Sad to see Nova and Peter "Dead". Hopefully they will be back soon.

I disagree with another anonymous about the hastiness to read Salvation Reach! Everyone need time to make a hole and realistic picture of cosmic justice.

But i think that we all (your fans) would agree - Blood Pact, cultists is no more a challenge for Gaunt Ghosts. (Especially as we all could see in @Blood Pact@).
So its time for the Sons of Sek to step on scene.
And of course i must to mention the inevitability of killing some famous Ghost character.
I hadn't cry from the time i read Armour of Contempt =)

Dear Mr. Abnett.

Is there a prize for the most imaginative query?

And if there is, who won?

Thanks.
