Proof copies of Triumff

Hi all,

I have just sent out a couple of electronic review copies for people to read and post about. I thought I could get away with sending out a few more, before I get told off.

So... anyone who wants an electronic proof copy of Triumff by Dan Abnett, published by Angry Robot, just let me know why you'd be a good candidate for reviewing it, in 50 words or fewer, by Monday, and we'll see what we can do. Post your entries here, and we'll announce winners and get in touch with you. What we're looking for from you is a 100 to 300 word reviews that you'd be happy to post here, and possibly on Amazon and Play.com.

Best of luck.

Crikey! That sounds almost like a competition!

Zing!

Ever since hearing about Angry Robot from Andy Remic, I've been interested. And since I love your writing, I'd be glad to post a review anywhere you want it posted.

I'd love a copy of Truimff. Unfortunately, I read for enjoyment and if I had to write a review after reading it it would feel too much like work :)
I could just say right now that I love it cuz it was written by the great Dan Abnett, but I don't think that would cut it.
Let us know when it's available for purchase, please?

Dan here is my entry, in a haiku cycle:

Fan of the genre
With ten years' experience
Critiquing stories

History degree
In Early Modern Britain
Insight on Tudors

Can write succinctly
Used fewer than fifty words
See? Still nineteen left.

Id love to do it ...but youve seen my writing on here.
My points are about as well organized as a ..Monkey Shit Fight In A Zoo..there usually thrown at people underhanded and stink!
There would probably be plenty of Hooping and Hollering, banging of my chest followed up by me bending over and showing the world the red flanks of my arse..
You see the problem is im to loyal and if there was a critique out there ...well the shit would fly!

Why I would be a good reviewer?
I'm just coming out of three months of binge learning for my literary studies exams and I'm dying to read something at leisure and for my own enjoyment.
I'm a huge fan of the weird history/clockwork science genre. I’m really looking forward to seeing how you handle that subject.

experienced editor during Uni.

fan since Real Ghostbusters.

particularly enjoy your novels and have LONG thought you're wasted on genre tie-ins.

Widely read, favourite genre authors; Banks, Stanley-Robinson, Abnett. Favourite general fiction authors Atwood, Banks (again) Rushdie.

Anticipating Triumff since announcement! Would be REALLY honoured to see it early. Cheers, Paul

Big - But maybe being a 'no nonsense, tell it like it is' sort of reviewer may be what's called for.

And you never know, it might be really good, so nothing negative comes to the fore for you to write about in a review.

My only problem would be keeping it to something less than 300 words....but I'd sure as hell give it a try.

I have now known your style for more or less a decade, I know your works in side and out, and that they normaly have meaning beyond the action adventure element. I would wish to be able to find these ideas and tease the wider audience with glimmers of them.

Hi Dan

I’d love to see a preview copy of your book to read. Apart from being a huge fan of your work, I would happily post my review of Triumff wherever it would be useful, including on my own steampunk blog, which I’m sure would only benefit from a healthy dose of your clockpunk stylings.

And besides, we share the same birthday. ;-)

Dear Dan, please could you fix it for me to read Triumff. Gaunt showed me what reading for the pure joy of it means again after Uni destroyed most of my enthusiasm for the written word, to read and review any new material of yours would be an honour.
Thanks.

Qualifications: I liked when you killed off your first major Ghost, but disliked the death of the second. I made a crack about Eisenhorn's pants once in this space. I believe Riders of the Dead is your best crafted novel. I'm not above bribery, but below fanboy-ism.

Why should I get copy of Triumff to review? Well…

Your books are the reason I started writing, and your move into original fiction highly anticipated. Once I’d started writing I found myself reading with an increasingly critical eye, and a chance at an early copy for reviewing is an opportunity to learn from you that I’d hate to miss.

50 words exactly. That is, and I quote, “lovely stuff.” Not my words Dan, the words of Shakin Stevens.

*Crosses fingers and hopes Dan is a fan of Alan Partridge*

I love all of Dan Abnetts works and writing the review would be no problem at all since my buddy and i are starting our own review blog and we will be on a writing spree anyway. We would be glad to post the review wherever you wanted it.

Thanks if you pick me and thanks even if you don't.

When I met you at Games Day Toronto and told you Gaunt's Ghosts was my favourite soap opera, you smiled. In 2005, I was as excited about Fell Cargo as His Last Command. I 'grok' you, and love the breadth as well as the depth; I can't wait for Triumff!

I would love to review Triumff. I'm a law student, so I spend all day reading some of the worst writing there is: judicial opinions. Your work has always provided a wonderful respite from the law-school grind. I'd write a kickass review, and post it wherever its needed

Please take a look at my reviews on Amazon.con and my new blog: Red Rook Review

http://redrookreview.blogspot.com

to see the type of reviews I have produced for Gav Thorpe, Chris Roberson, Steve Parker and Roberto Bolano. Hold on how that poet get in here? Nevertheless I would love a shot at reviewing you.

Best Regards, Keith

Not looking for a review copy, just wanted to say that I'm really looking forward to reading it when it comes out.

Cheers

In at the last moment...

I should have a review copy, because I'm living in a shed-like box with no windows, I've been unemployed for a month, and I'm pretty sure that the clowns are coming to get me. Triumff would salve my shattered nerves! Or at least give me something nice to do!

Kevin-

Amen to that. I write and edit legal docs for a Tax/EP firm, and if you think it's not medically possible for a brain to get localized hypothermia, eight hours of reading insurance statutes will change your mind. Reading something escapist and action-oriented is great mental resuscitation. Hang in there!

I want to apologies from the begining? but...
Mister Abnett i beg you dont tell me that you dont have Chaos Space Marines and loxatls in Blood Pact!
Where are the real challenge? The blood pact troopers are so dead when they meet the Ghosts, that at least at Armour of Contempt and Only in death i dont feel any real danger for the ghosts. Or and what about the personalities of the enemy. At the last 3 books the enemy has no face. We have no fellings for chaosits, they are weak and pathetic! Make another Saggitar Slaith, show us Anakwanar Sek, Word bearers Dark Apostle, loxatl brood command, something!
Do something before we dont slip from the Tanith serie.

Or at least show us Double eagle 2 - Interceptor city!

Mister Abnett can you write a little answer to my question: Do you have the CSM, or loxatl or Stalk tanks in Blood Pact and what happening to the Interceptor city?

My mail anakwanar@mail.ru
Please?

Xhalax said...

Anonymous - considering that Blood Pact is pretty much a reverse Traitor General (which sounds like some kind of wrestling move), I suspect that it might give the game away if the Blood Pact operatives took their STalk Tanks with them on a convert operation.

Plus loxatl are mercs so not part of the rank and file of the Blood Pact and Chaos Space Marines do whatever the hell they want and don't have to kowtow to so cultist overlord and his petty dealings.

As for the Blood Pact being faceless, they do wear grotesques, so being faceless is a given. But at hhe end of the day, the books are Imperial, about Gaunt and his Ghosts and not Chaos based. Plus an unknowable enemy is much scarier than someone who has thoughts and feelings so you can't empathise with them.

Though I would like to see Etogaur Mabbon (I think that's how you spell his name) again.

Oh darn, I missed this post entirely. I'd have loved a review copy of the book. I am a huge sci-fi fan, and this looks right up my alley. I run http://www.hypergeek.ca were I review tons of comics, and the occasional book. The site gets 10,000 hits a week, and I recently interviewed this awesome guy called Dan Abnett ;)

Oh well, missed the deadline anyway. Epic Fail!

Is there anyway to read a excerpt of the book?
