Rubbish

Is what I appear to be at blogging this month. Sorry. Very work heavy just now, chasing a deadline or two on what will now and forever be known as 'boks' (thanks, Jesse. Yes, I want to see the Smite Fairy). I'll come up for air shortly and tell you all about it.

Oh, while I remember, I'll be at Games Day Chicago on 28th of July (that snuck up on me), so I look forward to seeing some of you there.

In the meantime, may I recommend you amuse yourselves by going to UTube and looking for 'human tetris' and 'silent library'.

Hi Dan, I knew those two videos already ;)... May I suggest you simply try "weird japanese video". Precious. Oh, and "japanese taxi prank", one of my favourites.

The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny is always a chuckle and a half too!

*decides against flying to Chicago for the weekend*

YouTube videos hmm...everyone should check out 'Haloid' on there. It's the type of animation that makes jaws drop (and then fall off).

Just read an excellent issue of Legends of the Dark Knight called Mercy. Then I look to see who wrote it and lo and behold it was a Mr Abnett. Well done sir, well done.

Videos... has anyone of you heard something about the 40k-video called Damnatus?

just finished Nova #4. All I can say is WOW! I can't believe what happened. I'm not going to be able to wait for #5!

Xhalax-

The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny is pretty much the plot of most of my books. Eeep!

"Mercy" was a long time ago, Hugo, thanks. One of my few chances to work with the late and loved Archie Goodwin.

Nova, Saxon.. we've sold out flat on the first four issues. I promise we won't break Rich too much. Or maybe we will. Keep reading. Trust me.

I just finished reading Brothers of the Snake.

Wow! Well done sir. Please write more. Make this a series.

Technical Compliment: I loved the way you broke the story up into little short stories, then tied them all together. Brilliant!

I know you labeled each one a chapter, but they were not. They were short stories. Self-contained narratives.

Damnatus is dead. GW has officially ruled that it cannot be released because of conflicts (I'm not joking) in international law. German filmmakers have several rights which don't mesh well with Anglo-American intellectual property laws and it's hazy whether GW can claim ownership of the film, even if it's released non-profit.

Which sucks for us– but think how much it sucks for the people who actually invested money in the project.

(Then again, it's arguable that putting money into a nonprofit fanfilm is more "charity" than "investment.")

I’ll be working the Grand Tournament for GW and hope to get over for a visit. This Gamesday is going to tough. My wife and I just had our first child and I’m going to miss him that weekend. By the by, we named him Jack Abnett O’Reilly.

Pack_master said...

@ robert: don't tell me, I'm in contact with the director of the film crew...

It simply sucks.

btw: Dan, im curious... seems as if you didn't get my last mail?

Dan Abnett said...

Martin, I don't think I did. Sorry.

Jack Abnett O'Reilly? Am I being punked?

There's nothing wrong with good guys, bad guys and explosions as far as the eye can see.

Because in the end, only one will survive and we wonder who it will be. This is the Ultimate Showdown...or Ultimate Destiny.

(Can't believe you, Mr. Abnett, of all people has seen Ultime Destiny....that's all kinds of shades of classy!)

Hi guys, Dan just spent a week on a Fundemental survival course (more emphasis on the mental part) with Ray Mears and the Woodlore crew .I spread the word of the Tanith First An Only, and being right up their street i think u will have a few more expert readers. It rained like hell though and although far from the big bad boonies (thats what city folk call the countryside "The Boonies")Tunbridge Wells became hell on earth!

To Robert could u explain a little bit more about this Damnatus?

@ Steve: just take a look here:

Hmm, posted this on the last comment section, but it might be dead, so I'll say it here again: great work with Brothers of the Snake, Dan, I think you got enough personality into the Iron Snakes to make them more interesting than your average superhero bore. Well done.

I can't believe I have to wait until November for Only In Death. Life just is not fair.

Dan:
With a new baby, I'm not awake enough to punk anyone. GW probally has us all in the same hotel, so look up Chris O'Reilly there or over at the convention (I'm there Thursday, Friday and Saturday). I'll be more than happy to show you photos.

I see on CNN that the rain just won't stop coming down there in England. You're right, apocalyptic. I have sympathy-- we've got a (not as bad) situation here in Texas, meaning my friends get to tease me by sending surf pictures from home. It's only fair, I do the same to my east coast friends every time they have a blizzard.

In other news, thanks for recommending Rescue Me, the first season was excellent.

As for your books all being The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny... at least now we know how Only in Death ends. Once again it's being released right before I have final exams and papers due. (Curse you, Dan!) If I don't get into top-tier grad schools, it's your fault.

Urlock Gaur was hoppin' around/ The Sabbat System like a big playground
When suddenly Macaroth burst from the shade/And hit Lord Gaur with a krak grenade
Lord Gaur got pissed and he called up his men/ But he didn't expect to be blocked by Ven...

Robert: man, I feel your pain. I looked at that release date and the first thing I thought was "I reall hope that's during thanksgiving break." Having a book that I want to read a lot and also having final exams to sutdy for...never works out well. Hooray for second-tier grad schools!

Dan,

I am a first time reader of your work. I needed something to keep me busy during my trip to ASIA last weekend. I chose "Brothers of the Snake". Read it cover to cover. Will you have a sequel? Long live Priad and the brothers of Damocles.

Please advise...
