Couldn't sleep (too much Gaunt, been writing all evening). Decided to blog instead. Seems I'm not able to do that either.
Checked out Graham M's site and blog. Go over and see it (link provided). Graham does blogging properly, oh yeah. Puts me to shame. And he goes to the gym too. Puts me to shame (again). I know where the gym is, does that help?
Thanks for all the suggestions about books. There's a couple I intend to try. Keep the ideas coming, readers.
Looking back on what I've written tonight, it appears I might have just killed Gaunt. Hmm. Was that wrong of me?
Oh well, the book finds its own way...
Of course, he smiled, I could be lying.

noooo! I really hope its a lie, but ya know, i've kinda seen it coming since the beginning...the fact that ANY of the Ghosts have lasted this long in itself is amazing considering the normal guard lifespan...I gotta say, the Ghosts are probably the coolest thing to ever come out of 40k (even more so than the space marines ^.^) I hope one of the Tanith favorites takes over in Gaunt's stead at the very least.
Pfft, the gym is overrated. ;)
i just hop the update the minis :)
Pah, don't let him fool you. Gym's for ninkers. Real men go to the doc without hurting themselves in the gym, because they know their body's wrecked, eh? ;)
No....kicking Gaunt's bucket is the good and right thing to do.
Don't ask me why, it just is. It seems right for him to pop his clogs in this novel. Though it'll be interesting to see how....especially with the types of death you seem to come up with in your novels.
Quite a bit of bloggage since I've been not online....I'm impressed up to a point. And I already post on Mr. McNeill's blog anyway.
No one is safe!
And the gym isn't too shabby. I just get extremely bored. Very little mental stimulation.
Bah
You are on fire with blogging recently. Impressive............most impressive.
man it would really bum me out if Gaunt were to die....I was pretty depressed when Caff died, but I guess they can't all live forever. I'd have to say though the ending of Armour of Contempt was great, and it was also pretty cool how Ven was still supposedly alive. He's always been one of my fav characters. I was reading previous entries and someone had said they'd like to hear what happened to Soric, I think that would be a neat idea as well if he came back as a trained psyker or something along those lines.
The ghost novels are by far my favorite series....everytime a new book comes out I can't wait for the next one cuz it usually takes me only a day or two to read :D
If you're going to kill off Gaunt then it should be in some epic battle. One where the Ghosts fight with...oh I don't know...the Saint? That way Gaunt could go out with Brin playing the ol' tanith pipes. And remember...the Tanith still have to win a world and get a New Tanith.
As for some suggested reading material, unless it's philosophy(I'm a philosophy major), I can't really recommend anything non-warhammer. Although any work by Aldous Huxley is always good.
no no no. Gaunt should die in an act of selfless, stupendous but unsung heroism - performing some great act of which nobody but his closest confidants (and maybe inquisition scholars...) will ever hear or appreciate the true significance. i can't see him going out in a legendary blaze of glory under waving banners; i think he'd be way out beyond all hope in some desolate and wretched hellhole, wounded unto death but fighting desperately until his final breath to deny some cosmic horror of the archenemy. and stuff. he's a tragic hero in the classical sense, after all. he can't die in any sort of way he'd actually deserve :)
it's what the imperial guard is really all about, after all: unacknowledged heroes, and extraordinary deeds taken for granted by a hopelessly corrupt imperium.
I wrote the very first comment and again i wanna touch on the gaunt death issue...It saddens me that its gonna happen, although i knew it would. what worries me the most is who will fill his shoes. I'm not completely up to date on the series as i started reading them last year and the older books are harder to find, i have looked up and researched a lot of what is in store and whats up to date. however, from what i've read i don't see anyone i'd like to see replacing Gaunt. i also get a feeling once Gaunt goes, the Ghosts, though capable of surviving without him will surely feel his absence in one way or another...oh well, i trust your judgment, and i'm sure the next book is gonna rock as hard as the others.
as far as the gym goes, i only go when i want a break from school (im in college right now), and not much outside of that.
If Gaunt died it would be a quiet inevitable death that was caused be an event that while not grand could be used by the IG as propaganda to inspire a major defense/offensive. It should at least be a death worthy to join the likes of Yarrik of Imperial Lore. And what's the deal with Hark? I don't know if I trust him. I guess that's why I think his character makes an outstanding commissar.
Seems logical to wrap it up now considering how many of the original characters are dead. Still a lot of loose ends to tie up though
Are you still looking for ideas about books, Dan? How about a John Le Carre style Adeptus Assasinorum trilogy? I always wanted to write one myself, but I can't get the time!
