Hello, my name is Cal Hamilton. I include that piece of information for the benefit of readers of the recent Malone strip on 2000AD. I didn't use a fake name to be sly, I just thought people would guess Malone's secret right off the bat if they knew I'd written it. Seems to have gone down well, anyway. Standing ovation for Simon Coleby, for the fantastic moody art.
Games Day this weekend. Are we excited yet? 10,000 people in one room, united by their love of Warhammer. Apparently, after last year, the NEC has insisted on crowd-control crash barriers to cope with the queues that form at my signing session. When I was told this, I thought they were joking. Then I felt very famous for about, oooh, ten seconds. Then I got over myself.
This week, Dan's been reading H.P. Lovecraft: Against The World, Against Life by Michel Houellebecq (which he believes is essential reading for any fan of Lovecraft OR fantasy fiction); he's been watching the final series of The West Wing (which he thinks is probably the TV show that all the other TV shows in the history of TV shows have been evolutionary steps towards): and he's been listening to Out Of State Plates by Fountains of Wayne (just plain good, and a brilliant cover of Hit Me Baby One More Time. Honestly).
They say truth is stranger than fiction. Here's proof. At Steve Irwin's funeral, they had the word CRIKEY spelled out as a floral tribute. You couldn't make that up.

You've won this round, but....

Sterling work on Malone, you wily scribe.
This is, in effect, my Tale of the Dead Man (2000Ad ref. that I hope you'll understand!).
I've gotta say though, the competence and credibility that Malone oozed from every pore was compromised as soon as the first pseudo curse was uttered.
If "funt" et al were to be permanently scrapped from Sin/Dex without explanation, I have to assure you that nobody would mourn their passing.
Irregardless, Malone has been one of my thrills of the year even before the revelations, which gave the strip a memorable kick to assure its place in my memory and I thank you for it.
The signing line for Mr. Abnett last year was NO JOKE!
'twas so long that I had to stand outside to wait. But thankfully it was a lovely day so I didn't mind all that much.
Thankfully we just made the cut before the hour was up.
And I'm getting very excited about Games Day.
*cheers*
I remember GD sign in last time - the queues looped all the way outside and back again.
This time I intend to slip in there early, for Armour of Contempt.
i don't know why you don't take along more clones to spread the signing requirements. either that, or an augmetic servo-quill that can dash off 3,000 signatures in 10 minutes.
Nice meeting you on Sunday Dan - hope there weren't too many people with a complete Gaunts collection!
Can't wait to see what happens to Finny next!
And damn those publisher type people - fancy not having Armour Of Contempt ready!
