This is just to say

Just a quick note today to do two things: mention that I'm looking forward to seeing you at Black Library Live: Dublin, and point you in the direction of Nik's blog, where I have written a little guest post.

There. All done.

Plus, a William Carlos Williams ref in the post title. I can do brevity and literary-referency at the same time, me.

  10. Hi Dan

Isn't it about time for one of those update blogs you do where you tell us a little bit about all the different projects you're working on? Warhammer 40K/Horus Heresy, 2000AD, Dragon Frontier, etc? ;-)

Mr. Abnett, this comment has nothing to do with what your post is about but I read the Malus Darkblade series recently and loved it. I went googling hoping to find more about you and your work. Anyway I was just wondering if you plan on ever writing more of the series. If you are I would be thrilled because those books were amazing in my opinion. Thanks.

  18. Remember that Calvin and Hobbes cartoon where he's got a toy train crashing into a tanker truck and an airplane crashing in at the same time and ...something else exploding and... Yeah, that's Unremembered Empire. I love reading Dan Abnett stuff, but this is not good. More epic is not always more better, kind of like the old clown suit armours of World of Warcraft back when it was cool.

People teleporting and stepping out of the warp and falling from skies and more and more away from the nuanced, stylish mayhem that was Legion and Prospero Burns and Malleus. But possibly very good reading for people impressed by more cool awesome turned up to 11 on the outrageous crazy scale. To each their own, I suppose, really. 17-year-old me about 22 years ago may have loved it.

I just wanted to say "Thank you" to Dan for writing "Unremembered Empire".

The scene where the phrase "We March for Macragge" is uttered is simply pure brillance.

Dan, we know you are an extremely busy beaver nowadays, but how about an update of the blog?
I mean even McNeill has finally sorted his out ...

  21. Did it occur to you,he might be extremely busy writing 5 books all at the same time?
I love when the blog is quiet,it means he is busy writing.

I too miss Dan's wit but stop with the entitlement.
Dan keep the blog game low and your awesome fething books high.

  26. Dan is it hard to have a character in both the Hourus Hersey and the 40k universe at the same time?

I hope Alpharius has more screen time in Penitent. I really like that the Primarch is working with Eisenhorn. IS it revealed why he is doing so?

  27. Hey Dan,

Big fan of your work, especially the Eisenhorn stuff. I'm glad to see you have a blog and make yourself available to your fans.

I'm not one to usually leave comments about micro-details in lore storylines, but as I delve deeper into 40K I find myself drawn to its subtext.

Recently on my local forums I started a thread to stab in the dark at the nature of the two missing Primarchs. This quickly devolved into theories about the true nature of the God Emperor himself. Finally, intending more to ruffle a few feathers than to challenge canon, I pieced together a very rough hypothetical that the Emperor is and has always been the fifth Ruinous Power Malal/Malice.

If you find yourself with time to read a page and a half of solid fluff-nerd debate I promise you a rich sampling of ridiculousness. Perhaps even some truth.

    KUTGW!

  28. Hi again Dan,

Going to share one more crazy theory with you and no more :) I'm sure fans bombard you with ideas, so this will be my last.

In the vein of my search for the last two primarchs I re-read Horus Rising and was intrigued by the past where Horus talks about the 20 Gothic zodiac signs and his being the Sagitari.

After a long list of deductions I've concluded that of the last two Primarchs, one is based on the Scorpius constellation myth and the other on Orion.

The backstory being that the Scorpius primarch slew the Orion one and was in turn killed by Horus (Sagittarius). As a result the Red Scorpions (Scorpius) and the Iron Snakes (Orion) are two progenitor or first founding chapters from these Primarchs that were absorbed into the Ultramarines when the records were cleared.

    Full breakdown: http://www.gamesummit.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=14366&p=143330#p143330

OK :) that's the last of it. Thanks!!

    Mmmmm...

I think Dan may be being held in The Phantom Zone until Guardians Of The Galaxy is released in cinemas (1st August guys! Woo-hoo) due to a diabolical embargo ruling. However, as The Phantom Zone is a different comic universe its more likely to be The Cube (after all, the combined might of The Clones must reach gamma power proportions?! - its the only possible place to contain them).

I just hope Rocket Raccoon can bust you out of the joint come release day!

    Take it easy Dan.

    Tom

P.S. Any chance of a book signing for The Warmaster? Pleeeeease!

    Mmmmmm.....

Hey peeps, I'm thinking Dan has been imprisoned in The Phantom Zone due to some diabolical embargo over the imminent release of The Guardians of the Galaxy movie (out 31st July guys - woohoo!). However, as the aforementioned correctional facility is from a different universe The Clones are more likely being held in The Cube. I mean, come on, the combined psychic might of all The Clones must be zeta plus (complete insanity/dementedness/awesomeness). The only being ridiculous enough to try and rescue our favourite author is Rocket Raccoon. So come on Rocket, bust Dan out!

Side Note: Dan, you must relate to your fans how Rocket Raccoon got you outta that joint and post another blog.

Dan can't wait for Guardians. I'm going to make a T-Shirt to wear for the occasion with "HI DAN ABNETT!!!" printed on the front.

Hope I see pics of you and Nik at the premiere, I hope you have a signing for The Warmaster and I hope you post soon as I'm not on Twitter.

By the power of Grey Skull/Grabthar's Hammer, check ya later!

    Tom
