  5. YUM and very clever using what looks like a modern soldier and adding scifi elements to it, this could pull in the casual reader of militery books and convert them to scifi lol.

  8. Clearly I've missed something! You're releasing a military sci fi novel set in a universe of your own creation?! Was I asleep?

That's very exciting news! Will it be released to the Kindle? Care to share any details of the story, the process of its writing? You can't just politely cough, lob in a grenade like this and wander off into the smoke! Details man! DETAILS!

  9. And now I want to read Embedded even more. You're making us wait... how long? Coz that's just plain cruel.

  12. As Marco said above, you can see a much bigger image by following the Angry Robot link. I tried publishing it bigger here, but my blogmaster skills are still at the asshat novice stage, and I posted the huge image behind the links. For those of you expressing surprise, Embedded will be my second novel for Angry Robot, the first being Triumff, which came out last autumn and is fundamentally wonderful. Both are set in worlds of my own making.

For Embedded, the premise is this: on the frontline of a future war, a journalist is ‘chipped’ into the head of a serving trooper so he can cover the action. When the soldier is killed, the journo - unable to eject his consciousness - has to take control of the body and get home again, reporting live feed all the way...

  17. It makes me feel a little sad.

  18. Sad, Xhalax? Aside from the fact that it's a mournful, windswept image, you mean?

  19. If only I was that deep Mr. Abnett. But alas, swallow enough to paddle in and that's the way I like it.

  20. That looks like a fantastic premise for a movie, too.
Loving it...where can I buy once it's available though? Through a store like Waterstones, or solely through Angry Robot's web-site?
